Wernberg-Köblitz
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

  • You will take overall operational responsibility for the Wernberg-Köblitz site. You will manage material flows, coordinate production planning closely with the management team and shift supervisors, and ensure that the plant and operations run reliably.
  • You will ensure compliance with all permit-related and statutory requirements, including the German Closed Substance Cycle and Waste Management Act (KrWG), the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), dangerous goods regulations and documentation requirements. You will also act as the responsible person at the certified waste management company in accordance with the German EfbV, including supporting audits and inspections by the authorities.
  • You will ensure that site-specific risk assessments, operating procedures, work instructions and safety instructions are in place and kept up to date. At the same time, you will ensure that all regulations are consistently followed in day-to-day operations.
  • You will ensure order, cleanliness and technical plant availability — from maintenance planning and service intervals to managing external service providers.
  • You will drive process improvements and the technical development of the plant, achieve productivity targets and take responsibility for annual budget planning.
  • You will lead your team across the full employee lifecycle: workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and targeted employee development are integral parts of your role.

Your profile

  • You have several years of experience in an operational leadership role - ideally in production or plant management within recycling, waste management or an industrial environment - and have practical knowledge of the requirements for safe, smooth and reliable production operations.
  • You have excellent knowledge of waste and environmental law, including the KrWG, BImSchG, EfbV and permitting regulations, and are experienced in working with authorities and supporting audits.
  • You have experience in dynamic, fast-growing environments. Ideally, you have already helped establish or further develop sites, operations or organisational structures.
  • You lead your team with clarity and reliability, provide direction, foster personal responsibility, and know how to develop and retain people in a demanding production environment.
  • You communicate as an equal partner with everyone involved - from the management team to your production colleagues and external partners such as public authorities.
  • You have very good German and good English language skills.

Why us?

About us

cylib is a German battery recycling company that emerged from research at RWTH Aachen University in 2022. With an integrated network of sites, we bring together research and development at our headquarters in Aachen, dismantling and mechanical processing in Wernberg-Köblitz, and hydrometallurgical processing in Dormagen (in ramp-up). Our goal: building a resilient European value chain through the recovery of high-quality materials for sustainable batteries.

With our innovative OLiC technology (Optimized Lithium and Graphite Recovery), we recover over 90% of the contained raw materials – with a CO2 footprint that is 80% lower than conventional processes. Towards the realization of a true circular economy in the European market.
